UCLA and the West Los Angeles VA Hospitals are located in West Los Angeles and are surrounded by lovely residential communities. Unfortunately, rents in the vicinity are among the highest in the nation. This is a reflection of the rapid growth of Los Angeles as a major international center, and the desirability of the west-side area.

UNIVERSITY APARTMENTS – SOUTH
UNIVERSITY APARTMENTS SOUTH offers housing designed especially for the needs of married students, same sex domestic partners and single parents. Off-campus apartments are located in the Palms-Mar Vista area, approximately five miles south of UCLA. There are five separate and unique complexes. These apartments are approximately 15 minutes driving time from UCLA and are located near major bus lines. In addition to housing married students and single parents, University Apartments South also welcomes single graduate students, postdoctoral appointees, post MD’s and post DDS’s (eligibility will vary according to complex). University Village,

University Village is an 1104 unit housing complex located 5 miles south of UCLA. It is a contemporary apartment complex consisting of one-, two-, and three- bedroom unfurnished units located around central courtyards. The complex offers a multi-purpose community center, adult lap pool, children’s pool, computer lab, barbecue areas, coined laundry facilities, some enclosed garages, gazebo, two outdoor half-basketball courts, and a three story, four level, parking structure. Apartment amenities include a separate dining area, stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave as well as central heating, air conditioning, basic cable TV and cable internet service. UCLA state-of-the-art child care facility is located on the premises.

RATES (2007/08):
1 bedroom: $1016; 2 bedrooms: $1,147–$1,205; 3 bedrooms: $1366

There is a 3–6 month waiting period for these apartments. Therefore, early application is recommended. Wait list order is determined by the date of application. You must be accepted to apply.

Rose Avenue Located at 11130 and 11140 Rose Avenue

Rose Avenue is a modern complex consisting of two buildings with four levels each and gated subterranean garages. It was built and acquired in 1989. The complex consists of five one-bedroom apartments, 87 two-bedroom apartments and one townhouse located around a garden courtyard. Amenities include stove, refrigerator, carpeting, drapes, central heating and air conditioning, dishwasher, gas fireplace, key entry system, coin laundry facilities, basic cable TV, cable internet service and playground equipment. Several apartments have cathedral ceilings and skylights.

RATES (2007/08): 1 bedroom: $963; 2 bedrooms: $1,203–$1,367

Keystone/Mentone
Located at 3770–3780 Keystone Avenue and 3767–3777 Mentone Avenue

Keystone/Mentone is a four-story handicapped-accessible complex. It was built in two phases (1987 and 1989) and consists of four buildings with a central courtyard. UCLA purchased it in 1989 and the complex contains a total of 244 one and two bedroom apartments (furnished or unfurnished). Each unit includes a stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, carpeting, drapes, central heating and air conditioning, and a gas fireplace. Several apartments have cathedral ceilings and skylights. The complex has a key entry system, coin laundry facilities on each floor, courtyard playground equipment, basic cable TV, cable internet service and subterranean gated garage. In addition, this complex provides a campus shuttle bus directly to campus that runs weekdays during the academic year.

RATES (2007/08): 1 bedroom: $1,001–1,054; 2 bedroom: $1,247

Venice/Barry Apartments

The Venice/Barry complex was built in 1979 and purchased by UCLA in 1980. This four-level building has 139 units consisting of unfurnished or furnished junior one-bedrooms, one-bedrooms, and two-bedroom apartments. Lower-level parking is provided in a gated garage. Each unit includes a stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, carpeting, drapes, central heating and air conditioning, basic cable TV, cable internet service and a gas fireplace. The complex has a pool, sauna, and a small exercise room. Coin laundry facilities are located on each floor. In addition, this complex provides a campus shuttle bus directly to campus that runs weekdays during the academic year.

RATES (2007/08): 1 bedroom: $929–$995; 2 bedroom: $1,253–$1,218

UNIVERSITY APARTMENTS — NORTH
Weyburn Terrace

Weyburn Terrace is located southwest of campus at Weyburn and Veteran Avenues. It consists of seven building clusters built in 2003 and 2004. Weyburn Terrace is a Mediterranean-style apartment complex consisting of studios, two-bedroom/two-bath apartments, and two-bedroom/two-bath townhouses. Each apartment building has a uniquely landscaped courtyard, a common study lounge, a common laundry facility, and underground parking. Each apartment has a kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, and garbage disposal. In addition, each apartment comes with central heating and air conditioning, paid utilities, basic cable and high-speed Internet access.

Rental rates are $1018/month for a studio
$957 per person/month for a two-bedroom/two-bath apartment.
$978 per person/month for a two-bedroom/two-bath townhouse

Please note: studios are in high demand and are less available than the 2 bedroom units, which require a roommate.
