Community Housing Office
Located on the first floor of Sproul
Hall in the Housing Administration Offices, this office provides
rental housing assistance to UCLA students, faculty and staff. They
list and accept ads for a variety of living alternatives from the
private sector. These listings, updated daily, include apartments,
guest houses, houses, rooms in private homes, and roommate
situations. The best way to start your search is to visit the
Community Housing Office website at www.cho.ucla.edu. House
Staff can use the on-line system for a $25 Annual Membership Fee.
Submit the membership application with documentation of your
affiliation with UCLA. You will receive confirmation by email with
your username and password. Memberships are valid for one full
year from the date of application. Membership is not required to
view the shared and sublet (short-term) situations. Also, if you come
in during Office hours, Housing Assistants are available to discuss
housing options and to provide information on area rental rates,
tenants’ rights, sample rental forms, neighborhood profiles, and
transportation. The Housing Office is open from 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Monday–Friday. The phone number is 310-825-4491. Visit their
website at www.cho.ucla.edu.
Unfurnished apartments almost always include drapes, carpets,
and a stove. Refrigerators are sometimes not included, but can
be rented at an additional cost. There are many opportunities to
purchase items through the Internet, especially on Craig’s List
(www.craigslist.org).
