APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT
Developing interactive applications for web base, handheld or hybrid technologies
Depending on the nature of the project, its scope and implementation options, IDTU identifies appropriate technologies for delivery, such as computer based instruction, web based or CD-ROM based technologies (DVD technologies are under trial at IDTU). Considerable development has also been accomplished for handheld technologies. IDTU facilitates media production support at all levels: scanning images and slides, digital audio and video recording and editing, hosting and delivering all digital media formats on the School of Medicine servers. A multimedia production lab is available for independent faculty use, where a scanner, slide scanner and video editing equipment is available.
All applications are developed with strong instructional design foundations to promote the most meaningful interactions, student choices and faculty preferences. Each product is evaluated before final implementation. This process can be extremely time consuming, both for developers and faculty, and must be planned with these considerations.
