MISSION & OBJECTIVES
Curriculum Development
- To stimulate and inform discussions of the objectives and methods of medical education for the purpose of continuous improvement.
- To coordinate curricular scheduling, audiovisual equipment requests, and space utilization on campus for medical student education.
- To coordinate and staff the ongoing planning, implementation, and evaluation of the interdisciplinary components of the medical student curriculum.
Instructional Technology
- To assist faculty in identifying appropriate technologies for instruction.
- To collaborate with faculty members in the design and acquisition of computer based software and
- World Wide Web applications for basic science and clinical instruction.
- To coordinate the planning and acquisition of computer and multimedia technology in support of education.
Faculty Development
- To assist faculty members, fellows, residents, and students in enhancing and developing skills as teachers and educational leaders.
- To focus attention on the importance of excellence in teaching within the mission of the UCLA School of Medicine.
Research and Evaluation
- To conduct research in collaboration with faculty that will contribute to an improved understanding of the process and outcomes of medical education.
- To coordinate and staff the evaluation of courses and teaching for feedback to departments, course chairs, and the Medical Education Committee.
