Welcome to the
MEDICAL SPECIALTIES COLLEGE
Welcome to the Medical Specialties College. Our goal is to train subspecialty, expert clinicians. We will work with you to make the most of your fourth year, a year that will be productive and designed to improve your skills in critical thinking and clinical expertise.
As part of the College, you will have the following:
- personal academic and career mentorship with a College faculty advisor, chosen to match your interests
- an intensive, week-long workshop in July that will expose you to the way subspecialty clinicians and scientists think including special attention to applications of basic scientific laboratory methods in clinical medicine.
- seminars throughout the academic year held in faculty homes that provide a forum for students to present to one another a specific lecture topic. These seminars will also address a variety of topics relative to careers in academic medicine, ranging from exciting areas of research, hospital relations and practice in the community setting, such as bench-to-bedside development of novel therapeutics and technologies, structure of academic medical centers, career options and contract negotiation.
